Miss Pearman was admitted to the Bar of Bermuda at a ceremony at the Supreme Court.

Granting Miss Pearman entry to the bar, Chief Justice, the Hon. Mr. Justice Ward, warned her against specialising in a narrow area of law.

He said: "For my part, I do not think that over-specialisation is the route to take if you aspire to high legal or judicial office.

"I lament the present tendency towards specialisation and ask you to try and avoid it.'' Miss Pearman, 26, has been working in the Attorney General's Chambers since last October.

She graduated from Trent University in Canada, with an honours degree in psychology and English literature in 1989 and completed a Bachelor of Law degree at Reading University in Britain in 1993. She was called to the Bar of England and Wales a year later.

Miss Pearman told Mr. Justice Ward that she owed a great debt to parents Mr.

Colin Pearman and Mrs. Gloria Pearman, who supported her throughout her long and difficult academic career.
