from controversy surrounding the Regiment's renewed resolve to keep the Beat the Retreat Ceremony out of Hamilton.

He said he was neither for nor against a decision made by Commanding Officer Lt. Col. David Burch last year to withdraw the popular ceremony from Front Street where he claimed it clashed with Harbour Nights.

"The Regiment feels that although Tourism pays for it (Beat the Retreat), it has to have a venue that gives it the respect it deserves. It is a very solemn event,'' said Mr. Pearman, who has Ministerial responsibility for the Regiment as Delegated Affairs Minister.

However, the Chamber of Commerce and the Department of Tourism have expressed dismay at the renewed decision.
