Residents of Harbour Road may be asked to sign a petition calling for a ban on trucks driving on the narrow winding road.

This news comes after a Bermuda Gas propane truck was in collision with a station wagon around 2 p.m. yesterday on a wet bend near the Lower Ferry dock.

When contacted by The Royal Gazette , a resident -- who asked not to be named -- said she was "seriously considering'' travelling the length of Harbour Road gathering signatures to force Government to put a stop to the carnage.

And the woman claimed Works and Engineering crews moved the centreline at the crash site, making the westbound lane narrower more than two years ago.

She said: "The Government is aware of it to the best of my knowledge. I would like to see a ban on heavy trucks and maybe vans too. The road is too narrow.'' The woman added: "Just go down Harbour Road and see the scratches on the walls. It is almost as if residents have to employ masons and painters permanently to do repairs to their walls.'' The woman said that with guest houses nearby, tourists often walk to the ferry stop on the narrow roads.

"Somebody is going to get squashed,'' she said. "The houses aren't moving.
