APPEAL OUT FOR CRASH WITNESSES AC Appeal out for crash witnesses Police have renewed their appeal for witnesses to a single-vehicle road accident which has left an American visitor in critical condition.

Mr. John Brown, who was a passenger on the Meridian cruise ship, was riding a white Suzuki cycle west on Somerset Road at 5.15 p.m. on Wednesday when he lost control of it.

He was believed to have struck a sidewalk at the junction of Somerset and Cambridge roads.

Mr. Brown sustained head and possible neck injuries. He was rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where he remains in the Intensive Care Unit.

His wife Louise, the pillion passenger, was not injured.

Police said they would particularly like to speak with any motorists who might have been travelling west behind Mr. Brown.

MAN ADMITS HE WOUNDED OFFICER CTS Man admits he wounded officer Shannon Philemon Looby, 24, of Pembroke pleaded guilty yesterday to robbing a woman of $150, and unlawfully wounding a Police officer who was trying to arrest him.

Looby pleaded after being arraigned in Supreme Court yesterday.

The offences occurred on June 17, 1995. Mr. Ian Kawaley, representing Looby, requested social inquiry and psychiatric reports. Chief Justice the Hon. Mr.

Justice Ward adjourned the matter until October 2 for sentencing.

Looby was remanded in custody.

HOME BURGLED IN WEST END CRM Home burgled in West End Thieves targeted properties in the West End of the Island this week.

Police said a house in the Lukes Pond area of Southampton was broken into between 5.30 and 6.30 p.m. on Wednesday.

A distinctive black semi-circular Sony CD player with a heart-shaped sticker on its casing was among the items stolen.

Just after midnight on Wednesday, two visitors staying at a South Shore, Southampton hotel spotted a prowler on the balcony of their room.

The complainant chased after the prowler, but lost him in the darkness of the hotel grounds.

Police are investigating both incidents.

DOG FOILS THEIF IN HOTEL GROUNDS CRM Dog foils thief in hotel grounds A security guard, and his Rottweiler dog, helped foil a prospective thief when he was confronted by the duo in hotel grounds, Police said.

The man, who told the guard he was taking a short cut, was spotted at 2 a.m.

on Thursday morning in the grounds of the Pink Beach Club and Cottage Colony.

The man left without further incident.
