The woman said she was walking her German Shepherd dog at around 11 a.m. on the South Shore Road in Southampton when a pit bull suddenly attacked her and her dog.

While the woman was not actually bitten she received cuts and abrasions -- her dog was injured around his mouth.

BIKE DESTROYED IN FIRE FIR Bike destroyed in fire Belmont Hotel security officers alerted Police to a bike engulfed in flames on Harbour Road around 2.30 a.m. yesterday.

The bike -- believed to be an Aprilla motorcycle -- was completely burnt to the frame by the time Police arrived at the scene. Firemen also attended and extinguished the blaze.

The bike's value was estimated to be around $2,800. The name of its owner was unknown.

THIEF BURGLES HOME CTS Thief burgles home A hungry thief who broke into a Paget house and stole a packet of cookies, a carton of milk and a box of cereal appeared in Magistrates Court yesterday.

Colston Jacob McKenzie, 19, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to charges of breaking and entering into the Southcourt Avenue house and stealing the food.

He broke into the house -- owned by his mother's landlord -- through the bathroom window.

When Police questioned McKenzie he admitted stealing and eating the evidence, Crown Counsel Venous Telford told the court.

McKenzie told Magistrate Ed King that he worked "for a stripper -- the kind that takes off their clothes''.

Mr. King told him he did not consider the occupation a "noble or suitable'' one for the teenager.

He remanded McKenzie in custody for sentencing on November 26, when a social inquiry report would be available.

"In the interim you will have that time to think of what you are going to do with the rest of your life,'' he said.

FOOD THEFTS PROBED CRM Food thefts probed Police were called to several incidents where people were accused of stealing food on Thursday.

The first was at Heron Bay Marketplace at around 10.30 a.m. when a woman was confronted in the parking lot with a container of Parmesan cheese.

Later in the day Police officers seized an allegedly stolen bag of groceries from a 53-year-old woman at Hamilton MarketPlace.

Just after 11.10 p.m. Police were called to the Esso City Automart where a man was accused of stealing seven bags of codfish.

ROCKS THROWN AT BUS CRM Rocks thrown at bus Police are investigating a report that rocks and bottles were thrown at a public bus on Wednesday.

The incident allegedly occurred on Lighthouse Hill in St. David's. Police said when the bus driver stopped at the bus stop, a male on a cycle was spotted throwing the rocks.

TAXI DRIVER BANNED CTS Taxi driver banned A drunk driver who tried to outwit Police after they twice advised him to get a taxi home appeared in Magistrates' Court yesterday.

Earl Wilbur Furbert, 55, of Blue Hole Hill, Hamilton Parish, pleaded guilty to a charge of driving while impaired.

Crown Counsel Venous Telford said on October 23 just after 2 a.m. Police on Front Street saw Furbert drive into a driveway marked "no entry''.

They advised him not to drive any further after noticing his speech was slurred and he smelled of alcohol.

He insisted he was "OK'' and continued to drive only to be pulled over again soon after.

Furbert then agreed he should get a taxi home and Police watched as he locked his car up and walked toward a cab.

But a short time later they noticed Furbert's car was missing and they began driving toward his house.

He was found driving his car and charged after a sample of his breath registered 121 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood -- exceeding the legal limit of 80 mg.

Furbert was fined $600 and disqualified him from driving any vehicle for 12 months.
