Bermuda Plan to October 30.

Planning consultant Mr. David Summers, who opposes the new plan because it severely restricts development on the Island, welcomed the news yesterday saying the nearly two-month extension "should be adequate''.

"Clearly the Minister is listening to the people,'' he said. "I think she has done the right thing.'' Mr. Summers, president of Bermuda-Caribbean Engineering Consultants, told Hamilton Lions earlier this month the period to object to the plan was not long enough.

He said it was not fair Government had five years to come up with the 90-page document but was giving residents only two months to object.

The Hon. Ann Cartwright DeCouto announced in the Official Gazette yesterday that a copy of the draft Bermuda Plan 1992 can be inspected by the public at the Planning Department. Any objections should be sent to the permanent secretary of the Environment Ministry.

Mrs. Cartwright DeCouto agreed to the extension after requests from the Bermuda National Trust and other interested professionals.
