Smith's South candidate Lt. Col. David Burch made the announcement at a PLP press conference yesterday, stating the flight would not take place because they had not received enough "financial support''.

The charter flight was intended to leave Atlanta on November 8 and return on November 11.

The price of each seat was $525 and the plane was scheduled to carry 173 students.

But Lt. Col. Burch announced that the PLP had shifted the focus and intended to use donations to bring home as many students as possible to participate in the electoral process.

He slammed Government's behaviour as being "disgraceful'' and "shameful'' and accused the UBP as "acting aggressively'' in efforts not to have students on Island for the election.

And Lt. Col. Burch said a PLP Government would make every effort to accommodate students without having them "doing cartwheels and jumping through hoops'' to participate.
