Police appeal to CAB drivers

The taxis were in the plaza parking lot at around 11.30 p.m. last Friday -- shortly before the robbery.

Police spokeswoman Sgt. Andrea Browne has appealed for the drivers, or anyone knowing them, to contact the Police Incident Room on 299-4292.

Two bank bags were stolen in last week's incident, in which a bullet was fired by a man wearing a halloween mask. No one was hurt.

The 34-year-old driver and his wife were later released from King Edward VII Memorial Hospital. But their four-year-old son was detained, suffering a broken leg.

The accident occurred just before 5.30 p.m. on Wednesday on North Shore Road, Hamilton Parish, near Coney Island Road.

Police say the driver lost control of the vehicle, which was extensively damaged.

MAN ACCUSED OF INDECENT ASSAULT CTS Man accused of indecent assault A 44-year-old Pembroke man was charged in Magistrates' Court yesterday with indecently assaulting a boy under the age of 14.

Michael Andrew Cassidy was also charged with wilfully and without reasonable excuse, inducing the boy to commit an indecent act on him.

He was not required to plead to the charges, which allegedly occurred on February 23.

Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis bailed Cassidy in the sum of $1,000 plus a surety and ordered him to return to court in two weeks for mention. Mr.

Francis further ordered him to have "absolutely no contact whatsoever'' with the boy and to stay away from his house.

Cassidy, who will be tried in Supreme Court, is represented by Mr. Michael Scott.

MAN DENIES FALSE PRETENCES CHARGE CTS Man denies false pretences charge Pembroke resident Calvin Richardson yesterday denied charging more than $4,000 worth of goods to the account of a man with the same name.

Magistrates' Court heard that Richardson, 25, allegedly used the man's charge accounts at two Hamilton stores without his permission.

Richardson denied that during November he obtained $588 worth of men's clothing from the English Sports Shop under false pretences.

And he also denied obtaining gold jewellery worth $3,690 from Astwood Dickinson under false pretences during the same month.

Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis adjourned the case for mention to April 22.
