The 34-year-old male victim said he may have lost consciousness during the unprovoked incident which left his face badly bruised.

The Warwick victim reported to Police that he was attacked by three men when he refused to hand over money.

The complainant said that he had got out of a taxi around midnight on Middle Road, Warwick near Olive Bank, when he noticed two males approaching him.

One of the men allegedly demanded his money and grabbed him when he refused.

The second, allegedly produced a knife, threatened him and cut him on the left hand.

A third suspect then is alleged to have punched the victim in his face, shattering his glasses and knocking him to the ground.

The victim told Police that at this point he may have lost consciousness and that when he recovered, he went straight home, and telephoned Police the following day.

The complainant suffered bruising to his face and a cut on his left hand.

IN THE DRINK RES In the drink A man who fell into Hamilton Harbour sparking a rescue attempt was not attempting suicide, but had had too much to drink, a bartender who served him claims.

Two visitors from the United States rescued the Smiths Parish man after he went into the water last Thursday afternoon.

The visitors' taxi driver, Joe Brown, said on Sunday that the man had told them he was trying to commit suicide.

But Denton Gibbons, the bartender at the Hog Penny restaurant in Hamilton, where the man was drinking on Thursday afternoon, dismissed this.

He told The Royal Gazette yesterday: "He was there all afternoon, from 12.30 p.m. to 4.45 p.m.

"But it was no suicide attempt. He just had a little bit too much to drink.

He was happy, he was talking to everyone, and he wasn't in that frame of mind (to commit suicide).'' A 22-year-old Sandys man will stand trial in Supreme Court for allegedly causing grievous bodily harm to another man last week Friday.

Quincy Stanley Brangman did not enter a plea after the charge was read to him in Magistrate's Court.

Brangman, of Cook's Hill Lane, was released on $2,000 bail on the condition that he has no contact with prosecution's witnesses.
