she was assaulted by a man just yards away from Hamilton Police Station.

The woman was walking on Front Street near Parliament Street with a friend shortly after 3 a.m. yesterday when a man approached her and a verbal confrontation started.

She went to the Station and was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment.

A short time later, a 25-year-old Pembroke man allegedly resisted arrest outside the Station and allegedly assaulted a Police officer.

In turn, that cop was taken to the hospital for treatment to an eye.

Police are also "actively'' investigating a report of an assault on a person in a private home on St. John's Road, early on Friday evening.

The victim -- whose age and residence is not known -- was allegedly struck in the face with a helmet and sought treatment at the hospital for swelling to the left cheek.
