Psychiatrist resigns from job at prisons

But prison psychologist Dr. Derrick Binns -- who has been at the prison for 10 years -- said the decision to leave was an amicable one.

Dr. Binns, who runs all rehabilitation programmes for prisoners, said: "I'm looking for something different.

"I'm concerned that as I look ahead I see the potential for myself to become stagnant and inefficient.

"That's nothing to do with the job -- it's mostly to do with the kind of person I am.

"I like to move and do different things. I've been there longer than I intended to there and my decision is certainly nothing to do with the job or the prison service.'' Dr. Binns, 37, who lives in Smith's Parish, was staying tight-lipped over his future plans.

He said: "I do have other plans, but I'm not at liberty to talk about them yet.''
