Field Association's 10K race and fitness walk -- the second of this weekend's four international events.

The race, which begins on Montpelier Road and ends at The National Stadium, gets underway at 10 a.m.

A Police spokesperson said yesterday that Frog Lane would be closed to all vehicles including roller blades, roller skates and pedal cycles, from Devon Lane to Parson's Road between 9.30 a.m. and 11 a.m.

"Middle Road from Corkscrew Hill to Verdmont Road will be closed between 9.55 and approximately 10.15 or until the Police truck has passed. This will allow the runners and walkers to take up the whole width of Middle Road,'' the spokesperson added.

"However as of Verdmont Road, traffic will be able to travel freely in the opposite direction as all runners and fitness walkers will be using the left side of the road.

The spokesperson added that two handicapped athletes in wheelchairs would start five minutes ahead of the official start.

There will be two ambulance's along the route, and an ESPN film crew and local television crews will lead the race.

Runners and walkers will carry different coloured numbers -- runners' will be blue with a lilac background and walkers' will be black with a light green background.

Race officials will wear distinctive t-shirts and the Radio Society of Bermuda, providing communication along the route, will wear distinctive vests.

Parking is available at Top Square, around Ruth Seaton James Auditorium. Both large gates will be open for easy access. Parking is not permitted along Fort Hill to Gymnasium Road, Montpelier Road, Frog Lane and Flatts Village.
