snatched a visitor's purse while she was sitting on a bench on Front Street.

When the woman noticed the man had taken the bag, she immediately shouted "Stop! Thief!'' and the officers caught the thief and held him until the Police came.

The handbag and its contents were recovered. A 20-year-old Swiss male visitor was arrested in connection with the incident.

In an unrelated matter, two Government secondary and three primary schools have been broken into. Although a minimal amount of property was stolen, considerable damage has been caused to each school.

BANDS TO PERFORM AT THRONE SPEECH HOA Bands to perform at Throne Speech Two overseas bands will be part of the ceremony when Parliament reconvenes on Friday.

The Lincoln and Welland Band from Saint Catharine's, Ontario, and the Jamaica Defence Force Band will support the Bermuda Regiment Band for the Guard of Honour Parade and inspection by Governor Lord Waddington.

The two bands will be in Bermuda for the Regiment Tattoo being held as part of the 30th anniversary celebrations of the Bermuda Regiment.

The House of Assembly convenes in the Sessions House at 10.45 a.m. A short time later, the Sergeant-at-Arms, the Clerk to the Legislature, Speaker the Hon. Ernest DeCouto, and Premier the Hon. David Saul will lead MPs to the Cabinet Building, where Senators will have assembled at 10.30 a.m.

There, the Governor is to read the Throne Speech at 11 a.m. When MPs return to the House following the Throne Speech, election of the Deputy Speaker is one of the few items of business.

The public is invited to witness the ceremony.

MAN FINED FOR OFFENSIVE WORDS CTS Man fined for offensive words Annoying an off-duty officer at her home cost an 18-year-old Devonshire man $250 yesterday.

Kunta K. Armstrong, of Hermitage Road, admitted in Magistrates' Court to using offensive words in a public place in Sandys Parish.

Prosecutor Sgt. Donald Grant said Police impounded Armstrong's cycle around 2 a.m. on October 24.

Three days later, Armstrong visited the officer's home who was involved in the impounding and demanded that it be returned.

Sgt. Grant said an another officer came to take Armstrong away Armstrong began using offensive words, cursing.

Before fining Armstrong, Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis said: "This is the last thing an off-duty officer wants to deal with.''
