Young men are required to register in the draft ballot according to the Defence Act 1965. Until now, the military registration forms were only available at Police stations and Warwick Camp.

A Defence Department spokesperson said: "This has been done so as to make it simpler and easier for young men, on turning 18, to comply with the law.'' It is intended to help combat increasingly low turn-out numbers for Regiment service.

Eighty-one conscripts continue to evade the Defence Department from this year's draft.

Of the 377 men conscripted for the three-year, four-month tour-of-duty in the Regiment, less than 100 reported for recruit camp in January.
