Bermuda College for the Spring session is this Friday, January 9.

The college is offering a wide range of vocational, academic and recreational courses for students both young and old, full-time and part-time.

And there are also a number of new courses on the prospectus, including Introduction to Graphic Design and Micro Computer Systems.

A course in nursing is also starting up along with business studies, sociology and a course in insurance.

If you fancy getting your tongue around a foreign language you could try Beginner's Spanish, French or Italian.

And culture buffs are also in for a treat with a series of lectures the art and architecture of ancient civilisations. The 13-week course, held either twice a week in the mornings or once a week in the evening, will culminate in a two-week trip to the Mediterranean to view first hand ancient monuments.

College spokeswoman Toni Richardson said: "I think more and more mature students are going back into college which is an excellent thing.

"We have people who come to us because they've reached a stalemate in their jobs and they want to move up the career ladder.

"But we also have recreational courses, too, as well as introductory courses where a person can come in and not be intimidated. The thing to remember is that, even if you're 105, you're never too old to learn.''
