granted a licence to sell alcohol to the Palace Nightclub on Reid Street.

It was the nightclub's second appearance in Magistrates' Court for the liquor licence application.

The initial hearing was adjourned after concerns were raised over the number of gambling machines there were in the facility and that they impeded on the dance floor.

The former Studio 55, which is still owned and operated by Thomas Kiernan, was visited by both the Board and the Police and both were satisfied that the nightclub conformed to regulations and there was adequate space for fifty people to dance.

The club was granted a licence under the condition that no more machines would be introduced there.
