The man, who was a passenger in a car, remains in King Edward VII Memorial Hospital in critical condition with head injuries and lacerations to the face.
The driver, a 19-year-old St. George's man, received minor injuries to the head, arm and shoulder.
Police officers rushed to the scene of the accident after responding to a 911 call received at 2.05 a.m. and upon their arrival, just west of Jennings Road, they found that the car had gone over the embankment.
It appeared that the driver was attempting to negotiate a right-hand bend when the vehicle left the road.
The St. George's man was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving.
Police are appealing for any witnesses to this accident.
