The work, from the junction of Tamarind Vale to the junction of Longford Road in Warwick, was scheduled to begin on May 19.

Works and Engineering planned to close the road between 9.30 a.m. and 3.30 p.m. until June 20 to allow the laying of major utility services.

But Belco spokesman Greg Engel said the company received calls informing them that the road was actually part of the Bermuda Day Marathon route.

And he said The Garden Club also planned to show houses in the area this week.

The roadworks will now start on May 29, from 9.30 a.m. and 3.30 p.m., and will continue for approximately one month.

TEEN ON PROBATION CTS Teen on probation A teenager has begun serving 18 months probation for having cannabis and drug equipment.

Logan Mello, 17, of Keith Hall Road, Warwick, was charged on December 24 after he attended Hamilton Police Station on a separate matter and was searched.

Last week, Senior Magistrate Will Francis imposed the probation period and ordered Mello to attend Addiction Services after he heard that it was Mello's first offence and that he was under 18.

Mr. Francis also warned Mello that his probation officer would report back to him, if Mello did not attend his treatment.

He told Mello that he also faced "serious trouble'', if he did not adhere to his probation restrictions which included avoiding any known drug areas.

CYCLE RIDER INJURED AC Cycle rider injured Police are appealing for witnesses after a 43-year-old Sandys man received serious head injuries in a single vehicle accident.

At 3.15 a.m. yesterday Police were called to South Road, near the entrance to Southdown Farm, Southampton.

The circumstances leading up to the cycle accident are unknown and Police are asking any witnesses to contact P.c. Dorian Astwood at the traffic department on 295-0011.

MAN REFUSED TO LEAVE CRM Man refused to leave A 51-year-old man was arrested yesterday -- for refusing to leave a Police Station.

Just after 3 a.m. a man walked into St. George's Police Station and starting shouting abuse at officers.

A Police spokesman said: "After establishing that he had no purpose for being in the station he was asked to leave.

"He continued to verbally abuse the officers and was subsequently arrested.'' HEALTH FAIR TOMORROWn HTH Health fair tomorrow A group of doctors and nurses will offer their services free of charge at a health fair tomorrow.

The health fair is a project of the Eva Missionary Society of Allen Temple as part of its 72nd anniversary outreach programme.

Services include eye testing, blood pressure screening, blood sugar testing, nutritional consultation, cholesterol screening, and health related seminars.

Among those giving their services are optometrist Gerard Bean, nurse Angria Bassett, community nurse Delores Carlington, and nutritionist Wendy Butterfield.

The health fair is scheduled to take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Allen Temple AME Church's Youth Centre in Somerset.

DOG BITES 82-YEAR-OLD CRM Dog bites 82-year-old An 82-year-old Devonshire woman was treated in hospital after being bitten by a dog.

According to Police the woman was visiting friends last Friday afternoon when she startled their Akita dog which attacked and bit her on the arm.

She was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where she was treated and released.

JEWELLERY STOLEN CRM Jewellery stolen Police are investigating the theft of jewellery from a visiting couple's hotel room.

On Saturday someone entered the couple's room at the Belmont Hotel and stole a jewellery box containing several gold chains and rings.
