Island during the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Bargain Hunters, on the corner of Victoria and Court Streets, was broken into and had almost $6,000 worth of merchandise and cash stolen.

Store owner Mrs. Bernette Greaves yesterday said she went to her shop on Tuesday morning and found the window had been broken.

When she entered the store she found that she had been robbed.

"They took lots of goods including cameras, film, batteries, flashlights, oils, lotions and chocolates,'' Mrs. Greaves said.

"They even took trash bags to put the stuff in.'' She said Police responded to her report on Tuesday but could not take fingerprints because the interior of the store was soaking wet from rain coming through the broken window.

Mrs. Greaves was expecting Police to return yesterday to take fingerprints once the interior of the store had dried.

She said her neighbours had seen lights in the store on Tuesday morning but had assumed it was her checking to see if everything was all right.

Mrs. Greaves said she believed one of the thieves must have received a cut because she also found blood in the store.

She speculated that there was more than one person involved because she said the window of entry was high and one person would have had to lower the bags of loot to another person on the ground.

Mrs. Greaves appealed to local businesses to watch out for people trying to sell goods, such as cameras, at low prices.
