S. Princess in leading hotels group
super-hotels whose high-spending clientele may help pull Bermuda out of the tourism doldrums.
The Leading Hotels of the World Ltd. on Monday made the local hotel part of a marketing and reservations network that will bring in international guests.
Yesterday Southampton Princess general manager Mr. Eric Brooks anticipated benefits for Bermuda will be an increase in wealthy visitors and access to the world market, particularly the European market.
Mr. Brooks said the organisation would target leisure travellers -- the market's "very top end''.
Given that the Southampton Princess is a new member, it will get "a lot of attention,'' he said, adding: "This is very good company''.
Mr. Brooks said he did not think Bermuda, local guest houses and other hotels would be left out of the publicity. The Leading Hotels of the World Ltd.'s marketing would complement Bermudian advertising, and that "several different markets will be attracted by the overall Bermudian experience.'' Members of the organisation include the Oriental in Bangkok and the Ritz in Paris.
