search for four-year-old Chaona Woolridge begins.

Police spokeswoman Sgt. Andrea Browne said although Police, civilians and US Navy personnel have searched St. David's Island, the coastline and sea in the area, Police will comb the area more thoroughly.

Chaona, who has Down's syndrome, was last seen by her parents -- John and Donna Woolridge -- at their Cove Valley Drive home around 10 a.m. on Sunday.

The three-foot five-inch tall, light-browned skinned girl was wearing a pale pink dress with a white print pattern, white stockings and black shoes.

A pair of black shoes - believed to belong to Chaona - were found near the water off the Cove Valley area.

Yesterday Police said they had no new leads, but they are not ready to call off the search.

"It is the intention of the Commissioner of Police to have the entire St.

David's area extensively searched again to ensure nothing has been overlooked,'' Sgt. Browne said.

The search, which will begin at 8 a.m., will involve more than 70 Police officers and cadets. Supt. Campbell Simons will be in charge of the operation.

Up until today, Ch. Insp. Winston Esdaille of the Police Eastern Division has been heading the investigation with a team of a couple dozen officers, including divers.

Search teams with the assistance of Police boats and an air rescue helicopter scouted the area as church groups, area residents, and others from as far away as Southampton helped Police with their land search.

And today a Police search operation centre will be placed in the St. David's playground at the entrance of Cove Valley Estate.
