For -- in response to a letter of complaint from Gershwyn Smith, also known as the High Priest Shiloh -- the Governor has advised Mr. Smith his only recourse is to go to court.

Mr. Smith was minutes late in arriving for the nomination process at Paget Primary School earlier this month.

And Returning Officers refused to accept his nomination as an Independent on the grounds he was outside the time limit.

But Mr. Smith pointed out the clock in the primary school's gym stood at a few minutes to one -- and Returning Officers should abide by that.

Afterwards, he said he would be writing to the Governor to ask that the decision be reversed and that he could stand.

Deputy Governor Tim Gurney confirmed a letter from Mr. Smith had been received.

But he said: "We have contacted him today and suggested he seek legal advice.

"This is not a matter for the Governor -- there are legal avenues for pursuing these things.'' GOVENOR GVT
