Sen. Alf Oughton (Ind.) asked that the congratulations be sent, noting that he met Dame Eugenia two years ago.

He said she was the first woman prime minister of any country and went into politics from her law practice after Dominica passed a law banning criticism of Government.

The Senate also joined Sen. Oughton in sending condolences to the family of Mrs. Nellie Beatrice Fearis, who died recently. Sen. Oughton noted that she was the widow of the late Chief Insp. Leonard Fearis of Bermuda Police.

Government Senate Leader the Hon. Gerald Simons asked that congratulations be sent to the Bermuda Academy of Music, which recently celebrated its first anniversary.
