Senate set for short session

On the order paper is a bill aimed at giving children born out of wedlock to Bermudian fathers and an overseas mother the same rights to Bermuda status as those born to Bermudian mothers.

And a bill designed to give a single body the power to license medical-related professionals -- including physiotherapists and radiologists -- will also be discussed.

Government Sen. Calvin Smith will also table a motion to discuss the massive Green Paper on Bermuda fishing industry and the marine environment -- but, as the House of Assembly has yet to discuss the paper, it will not be discussed today.

The hard-hitting report into the state of Bermuda's thin blue line, the Bermuda Police Core Functions Review, will be tabled for debate at a later date.

A bill to allow the Bermuda Land Development Company to operate a telecommunications system without the usual licence -- but only until July or a year later if a licence is submitted before then -- will also be tabled.
