weekend after receiving news that Police were holding a man in connection with an armed robbery at his wife's home in Southampton.

It is understood that Sen. Oliver is returning to the Island to identify the possible suspect.

Yesterday Det. Ch. Insp. Sinclair White, who is heading the investigation, appealed for the following people to come forward.

A black male -- believed to be in his 50s -- who was sitting on the wall opposite Whale Bay Road next to the bus shelter sometime between 11 a.m. and 11.35 a.m. on Monday.

A black couple in their early 30s who were walking on the railway trail toward Somerset in the vicinity of Greene's Guest House during the same time period.

A taxi driver who may have picked up a male fare on Middle Road, Southampton and transported him to South Road, Warwick near Brenda's Poolside Diner around 1.45 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Police spokesman P.c. Gary Venning said the likely witnesses should contact Det. Ch. Insp. White at 299-4281.

Police announced on Thursday they had arrested a 23-year-old Pembroke man in connection with the incident -- three days after the Senator and an Ottawa couple were held hostage at knife point.

The man may appear in court as soon as Monday, said a Police source.
