yesterday in Magistrates' Court for drugs offences.

Aquil Richardson was fined $150 pleaded guilty to possessing .54 grams of cannabis at 5.55 p.m. on August 18 at the Southampton Rangers Club field.

Police prosecutor Phil Taylor said Richardson, 21, of Sunnyside Park, Southampton, attempted to ride out of the club parking area as Police in a marked car approached.

Richardson was stopped by a plain clothes policeman who informed him he would be searched.

Sgt. Taylor said Richardson told the officer: "What are you going to search me for? I'm going to get a cheeseburger.'' Richardson was cautioned but handed Police a bulky yellow twist of paper containing what was later found to be cannabis, saying: "Here is all I have.'' Sgt. Taylor said Richardson added: "Can you give me a break?'' Yesterday he told Mr. Francis that he was sorry for the offence and that it would not happen again.

Richardson must pay the fine today.

And 36-year-old Clevelyn Campbell must pay a $250 fine by the end of December or face 20 days in prison after he pleaded guilty to obstructing a Policewoman by running away on November 21.

Sgt. Taylor said officers saw Campbell and another man huddled on Elliott Street at 1.45 p.m. near the junction with Court Street.

When told he would be searched, Campbell, of North Shore Road, Devonshire, ran off.

They noted that Campbell was wearing blue nylon pants and a nylon sports jacket with blue and white stripes.

Officers began a search of the area and later widened the search and saw Campbell on Glebe Road as they drove down St. Augustine Road.

Sgt. Taylor said Campbell told officers they "startled'' him and said "yeah right'' when told he would be arrested.

At Hamilton Police Station, and while under caution Campbell said: "I ain't saying nothing. It was someone else, man. It wasn't me!'' Yesterday he told Mr. Francis: "I apologise, your honour. It's not going to happen again.'' Pleading guilty to having a variety of drug equipment and .12 grams of cannabis in the basement of his home will cost a St. George's man $400 in fines.

Sgt. Taylor said Police went to Derek Junior Tucker's Slippery Hill, home at 5.30 a.m. on July 15 to execute a search warrant.

They found Tucker -- with a crack pipe in his hand -- and several other men in the basement.

Sgt. Taylor said Tucker told the plain clothes police: "It's all mine.'' At St. George's Police Station, Tucker was searched and was found to have a paper twist inside a packet of Sampson tobacco which he called a "little bit of weed''.

Sgt. Taylor said the drug equipment was three crack pipes, a plastic measuring cylinder, a one eighth teaspoon, and a small digital scale.

Sgt. Taylor said the drug equipment was for the preparation of cocaine for making the processed derivative, "crack''.

Tucker was fined $100 for having the cannabis, $150 for having the crack pipes, and $150 for the drug equipment. The $400 fine is to be paid by December 31.
