Ships await rescue from heavy seas

This morning a US Coast Guard C130 aircraft and a helicopter will stage out of Bermuda to lift out four crew from the Kampesca , 200 miles southwest of the Island.

One crewman is incapacitated and one has a head injury and all are fatigued from maintaining their demasted ship. They sent out a distress signal at 6 a.m. yesterday.

The MV Northern Progress and the Alexia responded and are on station.

Another USCG C130 -- while on its way back from the Kampesca yesterday afternoon -- received a distress signal from the sailing ship Domus .

Storm leaves three ships in distress boat the St. David was expected to arrive on station last night.

The Domus has lost her mast, engine, and rudder, and one of the three people on board has a concussion.

Also in distress is the MV Kemerovo a Russian Merchant ship whose captain reported she was taking on water 120 miles west north west of the Island.

Powerful departed at 9 p.m. last night with emergency pumps on board and is expected to arrive at 8 a.m..
