Smith's man sent to top court for trial

A Smith's man appeared in court yesterday in relation to drug charges which include heroin possession and growing cannabis.

Damon Kono Mikki Rabain, 27, of Club Road, is facing six drug charges including possession with intent to supply of heroin, cocaine and cannabis.

Yesterday, Acting Senior Magistrate Edward King decided to send Damon Rabain's case to Supreme Court as opposed to treating it as a summary offence.

Rabain did not have to enter pleas to the six charges which include three charges of possession -- 221.5 grams of cannibis, 6.98 grams of heroin and 6.85 grams of cocaine -- and growing cannabis at his home.

In addition to setting bail at $10,000 with two sureties of $5,000 each, Mr.

King ordered Rabain surrender his travel documents and report to the Hamilton Police Station each Monday and Friday between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. beginning tomorrow.

Rabain also had $550 in outstanding traffic fines for driving without a licence and speeding.

Mr. King ordered the fines be paid immediately or Rabain be imprisoned for 90 days.
