smuggled drugs into the Island using the name of a well-known company.

Det. Chf. Insp. Norrell Hull told the Supreme Court of some of the methods used to get drugs into Bermuda from Jamaica.

"One of the methods used would be for a supplier to use the name of one of Bermuda's companies without their knowledge or consent and have the drugs shipped to Bermuda that way,'' said Det. Chf. Insp. Hull.

He was giving evidence at the trial of Karen and Orion Tuzo, of Boundary Lane, St. George's, who both deny importation and possession of cannabis with intent to supply on March 22, last year.

During the trial, the jury heard that cannabis worth about $12 million was found in more than 600 tins of fruit juice and syrup shipped into Bermuda destined for jewellers Astwood Dickinson.

All the documents were in the name of Karen Tuzo, but Astwood Dickinson was not involved in the importation of the tins.

However, under cross-examination from Mr. Archie Warner, defending the Tuzo's, Det. Chf. Insp. Hull admitted there was more than one method of smuggling drugs into the country.

The trial continues today before Puisne Judge, the Hon. Mr. Justice Ground.
