The Government-appointed board which looked into the drugs controversy is to meet tomorrow to consider a first draft of the report.

Yesterday board chairman former Premier the Hon. Sir John Sharpe said he hoped a final draft would be ready next week.

The report would then go to Youth and Sport Minister the Hon. Pamela Gordon "with the expectation it will be released to the public'', he added.

The inquiry was launched in the wake of the arrest of the seven Under-23 soccer players at Miami International Airport last December.

On Tuesday, the Bermuda Football Association announced the players -- who pleaded no contest to possessing marijuana -- had been banned from international football until 1998 and suspended from local soccer until 1997.

Meanwhile, The Royal Gazette has learned the BFA and the Bermuda Olympic Association have been meeting to discuss travel expenses for the Under-23 squad taking part in the Pan-Am Games in Argentina.

Sources have claimed the BOA wanted the expenses to be covered by a portion of the $75,000 which the BFA received from the Pan-Am Games Central Organising Committee for qualifying for the games.

BFA president Mr. Richard Thompson yesterday confirmed a meeting took place.

He was unable to say whether any of the tournament qualifying money would cover the expenses.

But he refuted reports that the $75,000 had been spent on legal fees for the players arrested in Miami.

" We've received some of the $75,000, and I can categorically state that none of it has been used on any legal fees.''
