30-year-old Warwick man who admitted stealing a cheque and trying to obtain money with it.

Steven Dill, of Cedar Park, claimed that he found the cheque which was reported stolen last November.

Police prosecutor Sgt. Kenrick James told the court that on November 1 at 10.45 a.m. Caesar Botello parked his car outside the Empire Grocery on North Shore Road in Pembroke leaving his briefcase with his chequebook inside.

When he returned to the car he noticed that his briefcase had been stolen.

"At 11.30 a.m. Dill attended the Bank of Bermuda Par-La-Ville branch with one of Botello's cheques signed and made out to him for $500,'' Sgt. James said.

He added: "Dill presented the cheque to the cashier who later realised the cheque was forged. The Police were called and Dill was arrested and detained.'' When questioned by Police, Dill said on the morning of the offence he had seen someone throw the chequebook out of a car on Dutton Avenue in Pembroke. And he denied being the one that stole the brief case out of the car.

Magistrate the Wor. Cheryl-Ann Mapp ordered a social inquiry report on Dill which will be read on August 31.

YOUNG TEENAGER ROBBED OF BUS FARE CRM Young teenager robbed of bus fare Two youths robbed a 14-year-old of his bus fare this week at a South Shore bus stop.

Police said the youths were riding by the stop around 2 p.m. on Monday when they saw the teenager waiting for a bus.

The two approached the teen and demanded that he give them money in a threatening manner.

The teen handed over four quarters and the youths rode off.

Police were investigating the incident.

MAN REPORTED MISSING FINALLY RETURNS POL Man reported missing finally returns Police reported that 24-year-old Lee Eastmond of Midland Heights, Hamilton Parish returned home safely yesterday.

Eastmond had been missing since 6 p.m. last Friday causing his parents to be concerned for his safety.
