The pamphlets describe the eligibility requirements for old age and disability benefits as well as allowances for widows and widowers.

A spokesman said: "It is important for people to know what benefits are available to them through the Government scheme.

"Several years ago the department published a single leaflet which contained information on all of the benefits.

"It was felt, however, that people were interested primarily in information relating to their particular situation and it was decided to publish separate pamphlets for each benefit.'' Copies are available from the Department of Social Insurance in the Government Administration Building, on Parliament Street, and Government Information Services in Global House, on Church Street.
