Staff stop shoplifter
violent struggle with Shelly Bay MarketPlace staff.
Police said staff allegedly saw the man leaving the store with a bottle of scotch and tried to stop him.
The man managed to escape during the struggle, but was later picked up by investigating officers.
And at around 9.30 p.m. on the same day, a "substantial quantity of plant material'' that Police believed to be cannabis was recovered in the Camp Hill area of Warwick when a night-time patrol tried to question a man who was acting suspiciously.
On seeing the patrol approach, the man reportedly ran behind the area's Seventh Day Adventist Church, climbed over a wall and jumped 20 feet down the side of a steep embankment.
It is likely, Police said, that the culprit injured his legs in making his escape.
