their horizons on a recent trip to Canada.

Thirty of the school's students from classes P4, P5 and P6, accompanied by principal Carol Stoneham, teachers Cidalia Soares-Chan, Annette Daniels and William Euler, and school counsellor Barbara Hollis flew to Toronto for a one-week educational tour.

Pupils had already spent time in the class room studying Canada's history and culture.

Hard fundraising, including hot lunches, a pot luck supper, walk-a-thon, carwash and fish fry provided the money needed for the trip.

And the week abroad was a busy one indeed.

"We chose Toronto because it is a safe city with lots of educational sites,'' Mrs. Hollis said.

The students visited the Ontario Science Centre, the Metro Toronto Zoo, Niagara Falls and Canada's Wonderland, a theme park.

They also made a stop at the Black Creek Pioneer Village where students stepped back to the 1860s as costumed staff and restored buildings mimicked pre-Confederation life.

And the Casa Loma, a castle in downtown Toronto, proved interesting, adding a piece of 17th century Scotland to the city.

"The trip was a wonderful learning experience for everyone,'' said Mrs.

Hollis.

Ten-year-old Rhia Simons added: "I really liked going to Canada's Wonderland because it had a lot of fun and interesting games.''
