has been "disappointing'' according to Assistant Director of Planning Peter Adwick.

"Just about everybody in Bermuda uses the City in some way,'' Mr. Adwick said yesterday, "either they work in Hamilton, shop there, or come to the City regularly for some other reason.

"It is very important we hear the opinions of as many people as possible in planning the future of the City.'' The Corporation of Hamilton and Department of Planning are working together to map the development of the City over the next half century.

According to Corporation Secretary Roger Sherritt, a report on the City's future will likely be published before the end of the year.

"We want to develop a plan for the next half century,'' Mr. Sherritt said.

"Mr. Adwick, in preparing a report on the result of the Opinion Poll, will be added to the input we have already solicited from concerned groups.'' Earlier this year the Corporation hosted a City Plan seminar -- the first in a series of meetings with concerned groups that included the Chamber of Commerce, international businesses, residents and business people located in North Hamilton, the National Trust, architects, real estate developers and others. "It may well be that we covered many of those concerned in the meetings,'' Mr. Adwick said. "The meeting open to the general public was well attended, but frankly the response to our newspaper questionnaire was not as good as we hoped.'' The survey was published again this weekend.
