Marine Police aboard Rescue One rescued the men from Dagger Rocks Beacon to the east of Darrell's Island at around 5.30 a.m. after the boat they were in was swamped and capsized at around 2 a.m.

But the officers did not realise the men were being sought in connection with a break-in earlier and still had the alleged stolen items in their boat until they recovered the vessel.

The pair were later arrested after being taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment.
