guilty to refusing a breath test after flipping her car upside down.

Alexandra Helen Rego, 24, of Broken Hill in Smiths was involved in a an accident on September 10 on St. John's Road in Pembroke.

The court heard how Rego lost control of her black Opel car and drove through a property wall, through a hedge and then through another wall, before the car flipped over another wall and landed on another car.

Police attended the scene and ascertained there were no injuries to Rego or her front seat passenger.

They then noticed her breath smelt strongly of intoxicants and her eyes were glazed.

Police asked her if she had been drinking, to which she said: "I had a couple at Oasis.'' Police then asked her for a sample of breath to which she replied: "I have been advised to never take the test,'' and refused to give a sample.

Before sentencing, Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner asked if she had anything to say.

"I'm sorry for messing up other people's property,'' she said.

Mr. Warner then fined her $1,000 and disqualified her from driving for one year.

Residents powerless Boaz Island residents were without electricity at the weekend after an equipment failure.

Belco said 127 customers lost power for an hour after an electricity pole caught fire on Saturday night after underground equipment failed.

Fire fighters responded to a call around 7.39 p.m., but did not see a fire when they arrived.

A Fire Service spokesperson said that normally happened when a circuit overloads and the fuse burns away. Belco spokeswoman Robin Sidders said: "When that happened, it tripped a switch.''
