Pembroke teenager who attempted to steal a motorcycle.

Dwayne Tenn, of Shelton Road, pleaded guilty to the charge.

Prosecutor Insp. Peter Duffy said Police saw Tenn attempt to take a Yamaha DT parked on Front Street at 1.30 a.m. on August 12.

Tenn sat on the bike, put a key in the ignition, took the bike off its stand and attempted to drive off.

But Police caught up with him and arrested him.

Mr. Francis released Tenn on $500 bail with a like surety and told him to return to court on October 12 for his social inquiry report.

US VISITOR FINED FOR DRUG OFFENCE CTS US visitor fined for drug offence Possessing cannabis and drug equipment cost a 19-year-old American visitor $1,000.

Jeremy Tweedie, of Virginia, pleaded guilty to the offence.

Prosecutor Insp. Peter Duffy said Tweedie was searched on August 29 a he left the cruise ship Meridian , which was docked in Dockyard.

A total of 11.6 grams of cannabis was found in his knapsack, and a pipe was found in his cabin.

Tweedie said he had only brought $40 with him to Bermuda and that he was starting college next week.

Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis told Tweedie that a drug offence was a very serious one in Bermuda and he could not treat his case any differently.

Mr. Francis fined Tweedie $900 for possessing cannabis and $10 for having the pipe.

CANNABIS FOUND ON WARWICK TEEN CTS Cannabis found on Warwick teen A social inquiry report was ordered for a 16-year-old Warwick youth who pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis.

Prosecutor Sgt. Rex Osborne said the boy was stopped by Police at 11 p.m. on April 21.

"Officers noticed that he seemed nervous and his eyes were glazed,'' Sgt.

Osborne said.

He added that officers searched the front compartment of the teenager's bike and found four paper envelopes and twists. The envelopes contained 2.5 grams of cannabis and the twists contained 2.8 grams of cannabis.

Bail was granted in the sum of $500 until the reading of a social inquiry report on October 25.

Montgomery C. Hamill, of Green Bay Road, pleaded guilty to the charges.

Prosecutor Sgt. Rex Osborne said that just after midnight on August 17, Police observed Hamill travelling on a motorcycle in Pembroke.

"The officers noticed that he failed to stop at a junction causing an oncoming car to take evasive action,'' Sgt. Osborne said.

He added that the officers noticed Hamill's breath smelled strongly of alcohol, his eyes were glazed and his speech was slurred. When questioned, Hamill admitted drinking four beers.

Acting Magistrate the Wor. Kim White also disqualified Hamill from driving all vehicles for 12 months.

SOCCER PLAYER STOLE FOR DRUGS CTS Soccer player stole for drugs A Devonshire Cougars soccer player who stole $5,000 of jewellery from his child's grandmother to fuel his drug habit was ordered to seek rehabilitation.

Senior Magistrate the Wor. William Francis put Galvin Butterfield, 23, of Cedar Park, Devonshire, on probation for three years on condition he received counselling and substance abuse treatment as recommended by his probation officer.

The First Division player had pleaded guilty to the theft of the jewellery and to causing $1,500 worth of damage to the complainant's house.

After smashing two doors with a hammer, he left with a charm bracelet, a sapphire ring and two sets of earrings. Butterfield admitted selling the bracelet for $100. The other items were later recovered.

Mr. Francis ordered Butterfield to return to court for a review on Novembr 27.
