admitted importing and possessing over $66,000 worth of heroin intended for supply.

Miah Jade Lewis, of Hackney, England, was searched after she arrived in Bermuda on February 25 on a commercial flight from London with another woman.

Customs officers discovered two small cylindrical-type packages concealed in her underwear. The contents of the packages were later analysed and found to be 45.1 and 35.3 grams of heroin with a purities of 38 and 42 percent respectively.

Crown counsel Khamisi Tokunbo said this amount of heroin would produce 2,663 doses with an estimated street value of $66,575.

Meanwhile, the woman travelling with Lewis was released as officers found nothing on her.

However, Lewis was arrested and interviewed by Police officers. She revealed her boyfriend had asked her to transport the heroin to Bermuda with the other woman.

Mr. Tokunbo called for a sentence in the region of 12 years which other cases involving similar amounts of heroin had resulted in.

Defence lawyer Mark Pettingill asked Puisne Judge Richard Ground to take Lewis' plea of guilty and the assistance she had given Police into account.

He argued that his client's assistance to Police had served public interest by effectively cutting off one source where drugs were coming into the Island from.

Mr. Pettingill said he believed justice could be served without giving Lewis a lengthy custodial sentence.

Lee Parry, 29, of Middle Road, has been charged with using offensive words at Heron Bay on October 1, 1996.

Parry has denied the offence and was scheduled to go on trial in Magistrates' Court yesterday afternoon. But he failed to show up.
