Police said the 15-year-old Devonshire girl was involved in an argument with "a young man'' who was known to her.

As a result of the argument, Police said, blows were exchanged and the man punched the girl in her face, breaking her nose.

The girl required treatment at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

Police were notified about the incident.

Inquiries were continuing.
