Thieves target tourists

A bag and its contents were stolen from a Pembroke hotel between 2 a.m. and 7 a.m. on Thursday after the couple failed to secure their room.

The bag and its contents, minus the cash, were later found.

Another couple had their wallets -- containing cash, credit cards, identification and personal papers -- stolen when they left their bags unattended while they swam at Tobacco Bay, St. George' between 9.30 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Thursday. Police asked visitors to be more careful regarding attendance to their personal effects.

In two other incidents, visitors were again the victims of opportunist thieves. Visitors staying at the Harmony Club had their room broken into between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.

The thief took cash from a wallet and a purse, after entering the room between 10.30 p.m. and 3.30 a.m. And in the second incident, a vacationing couple riding a rental cycle had a handbag in the rear basket stolen by a thief who rode past them on Ord Road, Paget.

Cash, clothing, personal items and their room key were taken in the incident, which happened at 8.30 a.m. on Wednesday.
