A 29-year-old Devonshire man allegedly struck a 50-year-old woman and a 33-year-old woman with a machete during an altercation at a Devonshire residence on Sunday.

The women received cuts and bruises on their arms and hands and were taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment.

They were later released and the Devonshire man was arrested.

In a separate incident, a 31-year-old Pembroke man was also arrested after allegedly assaulting a 34-year-old Pembroke woman in her home on Saturday evening.

The woman required stitches for a head wound.
