George Ewonus is an administrator of the College Board Advanced Placement (AP) programme in Canada.

He will be visiting Saltus Grammar School to talk to teachers who operate the AP scheme in the school, as well as pupils about their course options.

And Mr. Ewonus will also be the featured panelist at an AP forum for parents next Thursday at the school.

The forum is open to parents of children from any Bermudian high school who are considering entering their child into the Saltus Graduate Year.

The advanced placement year, for 16 and 17-year-olds, is recognised by more than 2,900 US colleges and universities and by an additional 200 institutions in Canada and the UK.

CONCRETE EVIDENCE CTS Concrete evidence A Sandy's man was fined a total of $300 for an accident in which a cement mixer he was towing slipped its locks and rammed into a bike.

The incident happened last October. Cofield Mark Robinson, 35, of Bob's Valley, pleaded guilty in Magistrates Court to driving a defective vehicle, failing to maintain the wheels of the equipment and failing to exhibit a T-marker while towing the vehicle. The rider suffered from extensive injuries.

BANNED BIKER FINED CTS Banned biker fined A 20-year-old speedster was fined $1,800 in Magistrates' Court for speeding at 86kph and driving while disqualified.

Crown Counsel Wayne Caines told Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner that Kori Tucker had been taken off the road for 24 months for speeding at 81 kilometres in 1999.

Tucker, of Union Street, Pembroke, was caught speeding along St. David's Road on January 4 but gave no explanation for traveling 51 kilometres over the speed limit.

Tucker was fined $1000 for driving while disqualified and $800 for speeding.

A PUBLIC WARNING CTS A public warning Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner warned a homeless man not to urinate in public after releasing him on a conditional discharge yesterday.

Derek Simmons, of My Lord's Bay, Hamilton parish, was charged with urinating in public on January 10 in the City of Hamilton.

Simmons said: "I was just p***ing in a corner. It was about 9 p.m. -- I couldn't get to the bathroom.'' Mr. Warner said: "I see you all the time and you don't normally cause trouble.
