Court yesterday charged with possession of heroin with intent to supply.

Smith pleaded not guilty to five charges stemming from his arrest on October 10 in Pembroke.

He was charged with possession of heroin intended for supply, knowingly handling heroin with intent to supply, possession of cannabis, possession of empty plastic bags and bag ties fit and intended for the misuse of drugs, and cigarette papers fit and intended for the misuse of drugs.

All of these alleged offences were committed in an Increased Penalty Zone (IPZ). This means if he is convicted, he faces additional prison time and increased fines.

Smith was not represented by a lawyer and his bail was set at $4,000 with one surety with the condition that he report to Hamilton Police Station once a week.

A trial date was set for March.
