460 nautical miles west of Bermuda late yesterday afternoon and it was heading east at eight knots.

But tropical storm Ana, formerly tropical depression number one, was not expected to be a threat to Bermuda, said weather forecasters.

Instead it was expected to turn northeast by today with its closest point of approach to the Island coming at 5 p.m. this afternoon when it was due to be approximately 250 miles northwest of Bermuda.

Ana was packing 40 knot winds with gusts of 50 knots last night and it was not expected to strengthen. Tropical storm winds extended up to 115 miles from its centre.
