Two men assist with rape inquiry
helping Police investigate an alleged rape of a teenager.
The teenager told Police she had been raped at Kilderry Close, Smith's Parish, during the early hours yesterday.
MAN DENIES POLICE SPRAYING CHARGE CTS Man denies police spraying charge A 28-year-old Warwick man appeared in Magistrates' Court yesterday following an incident in which two Police officers were sprayed with a chemical.
The incident occurred on Thursday in the Warwick area. Both officers received hospital treatment to their eyes.
David A. Brangman, of Coral Hill Road, yesterday denied possessing a prohibited weapon in Warwick, namely an aerosol canister designed for discharging an obnoxious liquid.
He also denied offensive behaviour, two charges of intending to do bodily harm, and escaping lawful custody.
In addition, he denied possessing an aerosol canister in St. George's.
Acting Senior Magistrate the Wor. John Judge bailed Brangman in the sum of $1,000, with one surety.
OWNER PUTS DOG TO SLEEP AFTER ATTACK CTS Owner puts dogs to sleep after attack A woman whose Alsatian dog bit a pedestrian on the foot escaped a heavy fine after she had her pet put down.
Nadine DeCouto, 38, of Sayle Close, Smith's Parish, was yesterday fined $250 at Magistrates' Court.
Acting Senior Magistrate the Wor. John Judge said the fine would have been much higher if the dog had not been put to sleep.
He applauded DeCouto for her responsible behaviour.
Insp. Peter Duffy, prosecuting, said victim Charlene Martin was bitten outside DeCouto's house on April 1.
The large brown Alsatian came out of the yard, and bit her on the left foot.
She eventually managed to free her foot by shaking it.
DeCouto, who admitted being the owner of the dog which bit another person, said she always chained her pet, but this time it had broken loose.
"I had the dog put down because I could not guarantee it wouldn't happen again,'' she said.

Police answering the alarm found the man still inside, and arrested him. He is due to appear in court next week.
BURGLAR SEEN LEAVING HOUSE CRM Burglar seen leaving house A burglar struck at a Pembroke woman's house while she was visiting a neighbour on Thursday night.
The woman returned to see the crook fleeing from the Pitts Bay Road property.
The man, who stole $15 from a handbag, was 5ft 8in, and wearing a red tracksuit top, and black pants. He was carrying a bag.
MAN ESCAPES WITH TROUSERS AND $50 CRM Man escapes with trousers and $50 A burglar escaped with a pair of trousers containing $50 from a property in Red Kiln Road, Hamilton Parish.
In a separate incident, thieves stole around $90 from a cash register at a Hamilton Parish business.
The break-ins were reported on Thursday morning.
