Magistrates' Court heard yesterday that Police stopped Paula Fox, of St.

David's after spotting her driving erratically in late December.

She had a previous conviction for the same offence.

Magistrate Edward King informed her that the penalty for a second offence was a mandatory disqualification from all motor vehicles for a period of three years and a maximum fine of $2,000 or 18 months in prison or both.

Fox told the Magistrate that she was getting help from the church for her drinking, and asked that she be allowed to drive a 50cc cycle.

Mr. King said his leniency would amount to a fine of $1500 instead of the maximum $2,000.

He also imposed a six-month suspended prison sentence, and disqualified her from driving any kind of vehicle for three years.

The fine is payable by July 31 or she would face 180 days in prison.
