Two-way street

of 6 a.m. on Monday.

A notice by the Corporation of Hamilton in the Official Gazette stated that traffic travelling west on Reid Street in the right lane will be able to turn right, onto Burnaby Street, and travel north to Church Street where new traffic lights have been installed.

From there traffic can turn right onto Church Street or proceed straight onto Cedar Avenue toward Victoria Street.

Meanwhile, traffic travelling east on Church Street in the right hand lane will still be able to turn right onto Burnaby Street, but it will have to now stay in the left hand lane at all times.

Upon reaching the junction with Reid Street and Burnaby Street, the traffic can continue down Burnaby Hill or turn right on Reid Street. But it must give way to traffic travelling down Reid Street.

Making Burnaby Street a two-way street is a bid to relieve the amount of traffic forced to travel down Reid Street and then up Queen Street to get to Church Street, Corporation secretary Roger Sherratt said.
