their financial statements for 1991.

But there is confusion over whether the Bermuda Industrial Union, the Hotel Employers of Bermuda and the Fire Service Association have sent their statements to the Registry General.

Registrar General, Mrs. Marlene Christopher says her office will be contacting the three unions to find out why they have not yet received the statements, which should have been submitted in June.

Mrs. Christopher said that the finances for fiscal year 1991 should have been sent in by this June.

But she said that it was not unusual to have to send reminder letters to certain unions, but she stressed that the BIU is traditionally prompt in sending in its statement.

The Registrar General said: "It is a requirement by law to submit the financial statements so that their membership can make sure everything is above board.

"There should not be any problem. Sometimes it might look that someone is not being vigilant. We normally send out reminders to them.'' Statements often depend on the end of the fiscal year for each of the unions which can be any time from December to March.

Mr. Ottiwell Simmons, at the BIU, said he would look into the matter today to see if the union has in fact submitted the 1991 statement.

But accountant Mr. Terry Lister said that he remembered signing the report some months ago and was certain that the union would have sent it off.
