Magistrates' Court to two separate incidents of assault.

Walton Chambers, 30, of Massachusetts, denied unlawfully assaulting and wounding 45-year-old Judith Outerbridge on November 15.

Chambers has been charged with stabbing the Ambassador's Club barmaid in the side, requiring her to receive seven stitches at the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

The altercation allegedly took place in the early hours during a row over Chambers' unpaid bar tab.

Chambers was arrested at an Angle Street, Pembroke, residence later that morning and bailed to appear in yesterday's Plea Court session.

Duty counsel Victoria Pearman begged to differ said Chambers had ties to Bermuda.

"His fiancee is a Bermudian and it is anticipated that sometime next year they will marry and Bermuda will become his home as well. He has visited Bermuda on a regular basis since 1990.'' Magistrate Arthur Hodgson granted Chambers $10,000 bail with two like sureties on the condition that he surrender his travel documents and have no contact with the complainant.

Chambers will go to trial on December 1.

In a separate incident, 18-year-old Josh Bremar, of Bushy Park Drive, denied assaulting Laverne Finn in Sandys Parish on July 25.

Since Bremar will be leaving for school in December and returning next June, his trial was set for July 1.

Mr. Hodgson granted Bremar $100 bail with a like surety.
